"Trialability is the degree to which an innovation may be experimented with on a limited basis." Trial disks for software during the 80's and 90's wasn't so prevalent; there was a lot of "blind faith" in software purchasing. I can't find any widespread cases of 1-2-3 demo disks circulating.
